Community Board 14 has announced that Doris Ortíz, who has served as District Manager for the past four years and has been involved in the Board for more than three decades, will be retiring on July 1.
Doris has been an invaluable resource to the community, always readily available and able to help with the things residents have had problems with. Her many accomplishments include, as Borough President Marty Markowitz said in a statement, “ensuring the MTA’s Brighton Line rehabilitation project had minimal impact on the community; working to establish Cortelyou Road and Flatbush-Nostrand Junction as retail destination hotspots; and helping teens find jobs by establishing youth conferences at Brooklyn College.”
Doris tells us she’ll be sticking around the neighborhood, and now that she will have some more time, she plans on enjoying what we’ve got to offer. “My commitment to the area is still strong,” she says, “and yes, I do look forward to enjoying the area.”
So who wants to apply for the job? The Executive Committee has authorized the formation of a Search Committee to recruit, interview, and make a formal recommendation to the Board on the hiring of a new District Manager. They’re accepting cover letters and resumes until May 31. There is more information about the position and how to apply at the CB14 site.
