Midwood Man Charged With Wife’s Murder in New Jersey
Saturday, August 20th, 2011
When Nazish Noorani and husband Kashif Parvaiz, who grew up at 1915 Avenue H, were shot on a quite street in suburban New Jersey, Parvaiz, who survived his wounds, told police his wife’s killers had shouted biased slurs at them. The couple had been out walking with their 3-year-old son in Boonton, home to a growing Pakistani population–among them, Noorani’s family.
Following a few days of investigation, however, Parvaiz confessed to conspiring with Antoinette Stephen of Billerica, MA, to kill Noorani and wound him, to make him look like a victim. Both have been charged with first-degree murder.
Court documents show there had been trouble in the marriage, and the Noorani feared for her life. The Parsippany Patch has these details:
The papers also note that, according to family members, Noorani had recently sent a text message to her brother saying, “I dont no why to do … Cant talk to him cuz he abuse me than… He doesn’t want to live with me… I dont no kids get scared of him sometimes… Im so tired of this… I dont no im scared… Someday u will find me dead but its cuz of kashi… He wants to kills me. [sic]“
Different media sources say the couple lived here, or that they lived in East Boston, or she stayed here to raise the kids while he moved to Boston to, he said, attend Harvard–though Harvard has no record of him. Parvaiz ran a small contracting business, Riyaan Developers, and its website says gives the Avenue H address as the contact.
When I passed the home yesterday, it was as quiet as that block, at the corner of Ocean Avenue, normally is. The parrots that live across the street at Brooklyn College made up all of the commotion. When I stopped to take a photo, a neighbor asked what I was taking a picture of, and when I explained, she said she hadn’t heard anything about it.
